In a major development for football fans across Nigeria, the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) has successfully obtained the broadcasting rights for the highly anticipated 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The announcement came on Wednesday, January 10, as NTA revealed that it had signed a memorandum of understanding with Afro Sports to transmit all 52 matches of the tournament.
“NTA signs Memorandum of Understanding with Afro Sports for transmission of 52 matches of Africa Cup of Nations in Cote D’Ivoire,” the statement read.
Multichoice Africa had previously made an announcement stating that they would not be broadcasting the AFCON 2023 games on SuperSport Channel. The organization cited their inability to secure the rights to broadcast the tournament as the reason behind this decision. However, they did mention that the AFCON matches would still be available through their partner broadcast stations on Free to Air (FTA) channels.
With NTA now holding the broadcasting rights, football enthusiasts can look forward to enjoying all the thrilling action of the upcoming AFCON tournament from the comfort of their homes.
