NUJ Ogun State Chapter Inaugurates Ogun East Independent Chapel in Ijebu Ode

The Nigeria Union of Journalist, Ogun State chapter today Inaugurated the Ogun East Independent chapel in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State. The event also saw the Investiture of Dr. Gloria Laraba Shoda as the Matron of the chapel.
The State chairman of NUJ, Comrade Akinwale Olanrewaju in his message urged all members of the new chapel to stay committed to the true spirit of the profession, stating that they should be known for upholding and reporting the truth without any external influence or personal benefits.
“This is another beginning of a renewed commitment, remembering that our role is that we are for the truth, and must always uphold the tenet of integrity.” Comrade Olanrewaju said.
The State chairman also inaugurated a screening and credentials committee to be led by Comrade Abiodun lawal, who would see to the official processes of electing Executives constitutionally into different offices and positions at the chapel.
The guest speaker, Professor Obatunde Bright Adetola of the department of sociology, Olabisi Onabanjo University, also admonished those in attendance about the importance of Character for sustainable entrepreneurial Journalism.
The Matron, Dr. Gloria Laraba Shoda in her brief address appreciated the Union for honoring with such a great stake. She, however, advised that they stay just to the true course and ensure that everything is done rightly. “Lie is clothed in May garments, but the truth walks naked” she added.
