NYSC LGI Pays Courtesy Visit to Sagamu Local Government Chairman
The Local Government Inspector (LGI) of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Sagamu, Mrs. Mogbojuri Olushola, paid a courtesy visit to the office of the Executive Chairman of Sagamu Local Government, Ogbeni Jubril O. Odulate.
During the visit, Mrs. Mogbojuri highlighted the importance of ensuring corps members posted to Sagamu are able to serve effectively without hindrances. She appealed for the Chairman’s support in providing a safe and conducive environment that allows for the seamless movement of corps members within the local government.
She also proposed the revival of the NYSC Local Government Committee, noting that the committee is constitutional and plays a key role in ensuring corps members are actively integrated and relevant in their host communities. According to her, corps members have the potential to contribute meaningfully when they are well engaged and treated with respect in their places of primary assignment.
She further appealed for support in securing decent accommodation for corps members and requested a suitable venue for their general Community Development Service (CDS) meetings.
In his response, the Executive Chairman appreciated the visit and commended the NYSC for its continued contributions to community development. He stated that Sagamu Local Government had previously built a corpers’ lodge at Local government’ Quarters and confirmed that corps members serving with the local government are currently being paid the approved minimum wage in addition to their federal government monthly allowance
To further support their activities, he approved the use of the NUT Hall for their general CDS meetings and assured that all other issues raised would be looked into accordingly.
Mrs. Mogbojuri expressed her gratitude to the Chairman for his warm reception and for his commitment to addressing the concerns brought forward. She appreciated his support and acknowledged the positive steps already taken by the local government to improve the welfare of corps members in Sagamu.
