NYSC Warns Corps Members Against Negative Social Media Use, Urges Adherence to Discipline and Cultural Respect
The National Youth Service Corps has issued a warning to Corps members, cautioning against the misuse of social media and encouraging them to produce content that positively represents both the Scheme and Nigeria.
Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, the Director General of NYSC, delivered the caution on Friday during his address to the 2025 Batch ‘C’ Corps members at the NYSC Delta State Orientation Camp in Issele-Uku.
In a statement shared on the NYSC official X platform, Nafiu emphasized that any negative social media posts by Corps members could lead to disciplinary sanctions.
He also advised Corps members to avoid unauthorized travel and to strictly follow camp instructions. “Follow simple instructions, be obedient, complete your biometrics, and participate in Community Development Service. Respect the cultural values of your host communities and do not misrepresent us at your primary assignment,” he urged.
Earlier, the NYSC Delta State Coordinator, Mr. John Kwaghe, reported that 2,101 Corps members—944 males and 1,157 females—had been deployed to the state. He commended the smooth progress of camp activities and noted the high level of discipline and full participation among officials and Corps members.
Additionally, It was reported online that Brigadier General Nafiu recently called on Corps members across the country to embody the core values of the Scheme throughout their service year and beyond. Addressing the 2025 Batch ‘C’ Corps members in Rivers State during their Orientation Course, he urged them to be patriotic and to let integrity, efficiency, transparency, and commitment guide their actions.
