Ogun Assembly Committee Clarifies Invitation to Former Commissioner and SSA Amid Audit Report

The Ogun State House of Assembly Committee on Public Accounts and Anti-Corruption provided clarification on Wednesday, emphasizing that the invitation extended to the former Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Abdul-Waheed Odusile, and the SSA to the Governor on Media, Emmanuel Ojo, was not an indictment but rather aimed at seeking clarifications on the audit report of the Ministry.

Committee Chairman Damilare Bello, along with other members, emphasized during the meeting with officials of the State Hospitals Management Board that the invitation was not intended to be a witch-hunt but part of the committee’s responsibility to ensure prudent management of government resources. Bello stated that the committee, in its Monday meeting, had not indicted anyone but sought clarification on issues raised in the audit reports.

He emphasized, “The House has no reason to witch-hunt anyone. We are only making sure the people see our governor working alongside the legislators with the right procedure to achieve all the government’s lofty policies and programmes.”

The committee urged heads of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to collaborate with the Assembly to address issues raised in audit reports, fostering accountability and transparency in the administration of government resources in the state.
