Ogun Community Raises Alarm Over Land Grabbers’ Activities

The traditional head of Eredo in Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, Chief Rasak Amujara, alongside residents of the community, has called on Governor Dapo Abiodun and security agencies to intervene and protect them from the activities of suspected land grabbers.

The appeal comes in the wake of a recent clash between two rival groups of alleged land grabbers in the area.

Members of the community alleged that the land-grabbers involved identified as Samson Sodeinde (aka Eleda) and Ajibola Johnson of Young Agro Limited, have been terrorizing the community, using thugs and fake documents to lay claim to lands belonging to innocent citizens.

According to them, the land grabbers are conniving with some officials in the Bureau of Lands & Survey to sell off lands to private individuals, including Chinese nationals, while displacing farmers and landowners.

Chief Amujara alleged that the duo uses the name of the Ogun State government to deceive landowners, claiming that their lands have been taken over for overriding public interest.

He expressed concern that the activities of these alleged land-grabbers are putting the community in panic mode and urged Governor Abiodun to take immediate action.

A female victim, who requested anonymity, revealed that she was forcefully displaced after purchasing several acres of land. She has since reported the incident to the police and voiced concern that the ongoing activities of the alleged land grabbers could spark communal unrest.

Other residents of Eredo, including Alhaji Mukaila Amao, have joined in calling for urgent government intervention to prevent the situation from escalating. They warned that the crisis, if left unchecked, could result in violence and instability, drawing parallels to the conflict in Benue State.

The community is appealing to Governor Dapo Abiodun to take swift action to halt the alleged land grabbing and safeguard the rights and properties of its residents.
