Ogun Governor Dapo Abiodun Celebrates Eid-el-Adha, Urges Unity, Safety, and Compassion
Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has extended warm wishes to the Muslim community as they celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Adha, a revered occasion that highlights sacrifice and devotion.
In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Hon. Kayode Akinmade, in Abeokuta, the state capital, Governor Abiodun underscored the significance of the festival, which commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to God’s command.
He urged Muslim faithful to embody the teachings of Islam during this period, emphasizing the values of selflessness and compassion.
“On this special occasion, I wholeheartedly congratulate all Muslims as we observe Eid-el-Adha. This festival is not only a time for joy and celebration but also an opportunity for reflection on sacrifice, love, and generosity.
As we unite with family and friends, let us also remember those in need and extend our support to them. The true essence of Eid lies in sharing our blessings with others,” Governor Abiodun stated.
He also highlighted the importance of unity and harmony among different religious groups within Ogun State, noting that Eid-el-Adha serves as a reminder of the need for peaceful coexistence and mutual understanding among all citizens.
“In these challenging times, let us use this occasion to strengthen our bonds of friendship and solidarity,” he encouraged.
The governor called on security agencies to ensure the safety of residents during the festivities and urged citizens to follow safety protocols for a secure and healthy celebration.
“I appreciate the efforts of all those working tirelessly to maintain peace and order in our state. Your dedication is deeply valued.
Let us celebrate responsibly, taking measures to protect ourselves and loved ones while enjoying the joy of Eid,” he concluded.
