Ogun Inaugurates 8-man Panel To Investigate Oluomo’s Response To Impeachment
On Monday,the Ogun State House of Assembly, inaugurated an eight-man panel to look at the response of its former Speaker, Olakunle Oluomo, to the allegations levelled against him before his impeachment by 18 lawmakers last week Tuesday
At the plenary on Tuesday, the Deputy Speaker availed the lawmakers with Oluomo’s response to the allegations levelled against him by the lawmakers, leading to his impeachment.
Eighteen members of the Assembly had impeached Oluomo last Tuesday over alleged gross misconduct, bordering on “highhandedness, lack of focus and transparency, financial misappropriation and inciting members against each other.”
Meeting for the first time after the impeachment saga, the House led by the Deputy Speaker deliberated on the former Speaker’s response to allegations which made the lawmakers move against him.
She advised that the Oluomo should step aside pending the outcome of the report of the ad hoc committee set up by the House at the plenary to look into the matter.
The House, thereafter, went ahead to consttute the committee which has Musefiu Lamidi, representing Ado Odo/ Ota II State Constituency as Chairman.
Other members of the committee are Oluseun Adesanya as Vice Chairman while Babatunde Tella, Damilola Soneye, Lukman Adeleye, Fola Salami and Olusegun Odunuga will serve as members.
