Ogun Police Arrest 23-year-old Suspected Cultist Who Jumped Into Complainants Compound

Following disturbances of suspected cultist activities in Abioro Community in the Sango Ota area, Ogun State Police Command has now confirmed the arrest of one Afolabi Taiwo for the crimes.
A statement released by the Public Relations Officer of the command, Omolola Odutola, provided details of the arrest on Friday.
According to Odutola, Taiwo was apprehended while attempting to carry out an attack on a community member who raised the alarm.
She stated, “The diligent officers of the Sango Police Division, with the assistance of the So Safe Corps, successfully arrested Afolabi Taiwo, a 23-year-old resident of Abioro Community, Sango Ota. This arrest is part of the Command’s efforts to combat criminal activities in Sango Ota, Ogun State. Afolabi was caught attempting to commit a felony.
“The incident occurred on November 1, 2023, when Afolabi jumped into the complainant’s compound on Abioro Street. Fortunately, the swift action of the complainant, who raised an alarm, attracted the attention of neighbors, leading to Afolabi’s arrest at the scene.”
Odutola further revealed that Taiwo confessed to being a member of the notorious Eiye confraternity, and that the police are actively working to arrest other members of the group.
“During his subsequent interrogation, Afolabi confessed to being a member of the outlawed Eiye Confraternity Cult Group. He stated that he was initiated into the cult in 2020 in Ajah, Lagos State. This information is of great importance as it will help the police gather further intelligence and expedite efforts to apprehend other members implicated by Afolabi’s statement.”
She emphasized that the arrest was made possible through the collaboration of the Ogun State Social Orientation and Safety Corps.
“It is commendable that the joint operation between the police and the So Safe Corps resulted in the arrest of Afolabi and prevented him from committing a felony. The partnership between these security agencies is crucial in creating a safe and secure environment for the community. This success serves as a reminder to criminals that their actions will not go unpunished and that the authorities are actively working to maintain law and order.
“The arrest of Afolabi Taiwo is just the beginning of the ongoing fight against crime. Cultists who refuse to desist will face severe consequences as the Commissioner of Police, CP Alamutu, will relentlessly pursue criminals and dismantle their criminal activities, especially as the festive season approaches,” concluded Odutola.
