Ogun so safe arrest bricklayer for assaulting bike man with shovel

The Ogun State-owned Social Orientation and Safety (So-Safe) Corps has arrested a 29-year-old bricklayer, Shakiru Bello, for allegedly attacking a commercial motorcyclist and carting away his bike.

Bello, who was said to have disguised as a passenger, was arrested on Friday following a complaint by the victim simply identified as Abel.

The suspect had hired Abel to transport him on bike to Agobaba, Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun.

According to a statement by the So-Safe Corps spokesperson, Moruf Yusuf, the robbery suspect, who resides at Penpe in Owode Yewa, had confessed to the crime.

During preliminary investigation, the bricklayer had confessed that ā€œhe stopped the motorcyclist to take him as a passenger to Agobaba Area, and the motive was to snatch the bike from him.ā€

According to Yusuf, the suspect explained how he directed the bike man to take him towards a new site, at a house being built by his friend.

ā€œOn getting there, he picked a shovel kept by the side of the building and hit it against the motorcyclist’s head with the intention to kill him. He then went away with his bike,ā€ it was said.

The victim, who also lives in Agobaba, told the corps that he pretended to have died after the attack.

However, after the suspect had left with his motorcycle, ā€œhe managed to contact the So-Safe office for help.ā€œ

Upon the report, the Corps Commander, Soji Ganzallo, was said to have directed his men to go after the suspect and he was arrested with the stolen bike.
