Ogun State @50 Celebrated with Cultural Grandeur at Akarigbo Palace, Sagamu

The Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State joined other parts of the state to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Ogun State in a colourful and well-attended ceremony held at the Akarigbo Palace, Sagamu.

 

 

 

The event commenced with the Master of Ceremonies recognizing the arrival of His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Babatunde Ajayi,the Akarigbo of Remo Land, the Radanua of Idado Kingdom, as well as other distinguished traditional rulers, chiefs, and dignitaries. The Executive Chairman of Sagamu Local Government, Hon. Jubril Odulate Afolabi, was also warmly received by guests at the venue.

 

 

The MC congratulated the Akarigbo of Remo Land and the people of Ogun State on the historic milestone, after which the National Anthem and the Ogun State Anthem were solemnly rendered.

 

 

In line with the state’s spirit of unity and religious tolerance, opening prayers were offered according to the three major religions practiced in Ogun State. The Christian prayer was led by Katar Godwin, the Islamic prayer by Fadilat Sheikh, while the traditional prayer was offered by Chief Ademosun Adeleke (Araba Akarigbo).

 

 

The MC then invited the Secretary to Sagamu Local Government, Prince Kola Onalaja, to deliver the welcome address. This was followed by a musical interlude by Alhaja Kairat Atoke Ife Anobi, whose performance added colour to the celebration.

 

 

 

Goodwill messages formed the next segment of the programme, during which guests were encouraged to offer prayers and positive wishes for themselves and the continued progress of Ogun State. One of the highlights of the event was the raffle draw, which saw several guests emerge as winners of valuable items including bags of rice, gas cylinders, blenders, solar fans, pressing irons, and two chest freezer. The presentation of gifts was led by Hon. Daisi Akinitan, with further support from former Executive Chairman of Sagamu Local Government, Hon. Oledeoku.

 

 

Delivering his royal message, the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remo Land, Oba (Dr). Babatunde Adewale Ajayi, Torungbuwa II, urged residents of Sagamu to continue to embrace peace, unity, and development. The celebration also featured musical performances, miming, and cultural dance displays, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the people.

 

 

In his address, the Executive Chairman of Sagamu Local Government, Hon. Jubril Odulate Olasile, congratulated the citizens on the golden jubilee and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to grassroots development. This was followed by the cutting of the Ogun State @50 anniversary cake.

 

 

The event continued with musical entertainment by Alhaji Tiri Leather, additional raffle draws as a lucky winner received the sum of Two hundred thousand naira cash gift, and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Head of Local Government Administration, bringing the memorable celebration to a successful close.
