Ogun state Council Task Officials Of M&E Department on Maximum Productivity

Ogun State Council on Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) has tasked officials of the Departments of Planning, Research and Statistics of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of Government, as well as the Central Department of Monitoring and Evaluation involved in the tracking of Progress of government Projects and Programmes across the State to improve on a robust reporting system.

Welcoming members of the State Council to the year 2023 first quarter meeting in Abeokuta, Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mr. Olaolu Olabimtan, who doubles as the Chairman of the State Council emphasised the importance of monitoring and evaluation of governments projects and programmes towards ensuring that taxpayers’ funds were judiciously expended and executed with special reference to quality service delivery.

Olabimtan, represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mrs. Olufunmilayo Dada who added that efforts had been geared towards reinvigorating the State M&E mechanisms for optimal productivity, said the previous State Technical Working Committee (STWC) on M&E had metamorphosed to the State Council on M&E, noting that the Council also created and inaugurated 12 Sectoral Committees across MDAs for more result based outcomes on project evaluation.

The Commissioner urged the Council to come up with workable templates and innovative strategies that would further assist the government in tracking Projects/Programmes implementation progress, to ensure efficient provision of basic amenities and other meaningful dividends of democracy to the people of the State.

“I welcome you all to this first quarter meeting of the State Council to review and chart a course towards efficient and effective monitoring of government genuine intentions for the people of the State”, he noted.

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Public Service Reform and Transformation Office, Mr. Jola Oyeneye maintained that there was need to ensure clarity in reporting of Projects, avoid ambiguity and adopt the principles of Total Quality Management (TQM) towards result-based outcomes on Project Assessment.

Giving an overview of last year’s performance, the Director, State Central Department of M&E, Mr. David Onigbinde assured that the suggestions and contributions made at the meeting would be given positive consideration towards effective monitoring and evaluation of Government Projects/Programmes in the State.
