The Ogun State government has announced a new initiative aimed at providing dignified shelter for individuals who have experienced gender violence, sexual harassment, or other forms of molestation.
The initiative seeks to protect victims from the stigma associated with these traumatic experiences and provide them with a safe and supportive environment. Governor Dapo Abiodun, accompanied by his wife, the First Lady of Ogun Stat, proudly unveiled this significant undertaking during a recent road show organized as part of the 16 days’ Activism Against Gender-Based Violence in the state.
By mobilizing resources and developing comprehensive strategies, the government aims to make a lasting impact and create a society free from gender-based violence. This noble cause has garnered support from notable women who joined the First Lady in raising awareness during the road show, highlighting the urgency of tackling gender violence and creating a safer environment for all.
“Our administration is committed to establishing a gender-based violence trust fund to support the welfare of the affected victims. We are dedicated to mobilising resources and developing comprehensive plans to achieve this noble cause.” Dapi Abiodun said.
