OGUN STATE GOVERNOR’S WIFE IMPLORES STUDENTS TO TAKE THEIR ACADEMICS SERIOUSLY
The wife of the Ogun state Governor, Bamidele Abiodun, has urged students to shun distractions and peer influence and put more efforts in their academic pursuit.
She made this known at the day 6 of the Ilisan day celebration, which featured interschool competition in areas like debate, quiz, spelling bee, indoor sporting event and cultural display.
There was also a presentation of scholarship award to students from the community who have excelled in the 2021/2002 WAEC Examinations, namely Oyedoyin Samuel from Ilisan high school and Boluwatife Peter from Isanbi comprehensive high school.
In her speech, she described education as the bedrock of every Nation, stating that though the path to academic excellence might be rough and rocky, its fruits were sweet.
She also advised the young scholars to avoid the company of bad friends that were out to mislead them and lure them into vices and other societal ills, as such friends had nothing to offer aside derailing them off the path to greatness.
Using the medium to commemorate with teachers on the occasion of the “world Teacher’s day” which is celebrated annually, she commended the efforts of teachers Nationwide.
While reiterating Dapo Abiodun’s resolve to prioritize education, she enjoined parents and guardians to ensure that their wards get the best education
Reacting, chairman of the event, Engr. Adeoye Tunde Baakare appreciated the effort of the Dapo Abiodun led administration in ensuring continuity in the education sector, most especially in the payment of teachers salaries, rehabilitation of public schools and the provision of learning materials for students in the primary and secondary sections.
Sir. Muftau Olakunle, the chairman of Ilisan development association, also appreciated the Governors’ wife for her constant support to the community.
