Ogun State Ministry of Budget and Planning Holds Town Hall Meeting for Remo Division on 2025-2027 Medium Term Expenditure Framework and 2025 Budget

The Ogun State Ministry of Budget and Planning organized a town hall meeting for Remo Division’s 2025-2027 Medium Term Expenditure Framework and citizen engagement. Held at Remo Royal Event Centre, Akarigbo’s palace, Ita Oba, Sagamu, the meeting aimed to incorporate citizens’ desires into the budget.

Dignitaries in attendance included Dapo Okubadejo, Commissioner for Finance and Chief Economic Adviser, representing the Governor of Ogun State; Kabiyesi Oniraniken of Iraniken, Oba Adewale Adeniji, representing the Akarigbo of Remoland; Mr. Olaolu Olabimtan, Commissioner for Budget and Planning; Mr. Ola Oresanya, Commissioner for Environment; Mrs. Funmilayo Efuwape, Commissioner for Special Duty, Royal Fathers representing the Remo Traditional Council. Also present were Ogbeni Afolabi Odulate; Chairman, Teaching Service Commission, Evangelist Ifede; Hon. Apelogun; and honorable members of RemoGDF.

Additionally, representatives from the National Council of Women Society, Artisans, Heads of Local Government Administration, Spiritual Leaders, Body of Permanent Secretaries in Ogun State, youth group leaders, and community stakeholders attended.

Commissioner for Finance and Chief Economic Adviser, Dapo Okubadejo, representing Governor Dapo Abiodun at the town hall meeting, emphasized the importance of inclusive budgeting and reported a 90% implementation rate of previous town hall meeting requests. He explained that inclusive budgeting ensures citizens’ needs are considered and addressed in the budget.

Kabiyesi Oniraniken of Iraniken, Oba Adewale Adeniji, representing Akarigbo of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Adewale Ajayi, expressed gratitude towards Governor Abiodun’s administration for its efforts in addressing the community’s concerns. He urged the government to consider the requests discussed during the meeting, ensuring the welfare and development of Remoland.

Community leaders and stakeholders advocated for various essential needs, topped by road reconstruction, reliable electricity, enhanced security, classrooms renovation, youth empowerment initiatives, and critical interventions in tertiary institutions. These pressing concerns underscored the community’s desire for holistic development.

Other key requirements included infrastructure development, economic empowerment programs, improved social welfare services, environmental protection initiatives, and robust healthcare systems. Stakeholders emphasized the importance of addressing these interconnected needs to ensure comprehensive community growth and well-being.

Dapo Okubadejo reassured stakeholders that all requests and concerns raised during the town hall meeting would be meticulously reviewed and considered during the planning process for the 2025 budget.
