Ogun State Police Command Strengthens Security Measures at Sagamu Interchange

The Ogun State Police Command has announced heightened security measures at the Sagamu Interchange following recent concerns regarding safety in the area. This initiative comes in response to alarming social media reports about an alleged security incident on March 31, 2025. Although no formal complaints have been registered at police stations, Commissioner of Police, Dr. Lanre Ogunlowo, is taking proactive steps to enhance security measures.

In an effort to secure the area, personnel from the Quick Intervention Squad, OP Mesa, and Mobile Police Squadrons 71 and 16 have been deployed to key locations, including under the bridge, at the roundabouts, and along various routes at the interchange.

During a two-hour drone surveillance organized by the Commissioner, several illegal shanties and unauthorized revenue collection activities were uncovered, prompting immediate action. CP Ogunlowo has ordered the disbandment of these illegal activities and initiated the removal of unauthorized structures, effective April 3, 2025. Furthermore, all commercial activities under the bridge are to cease immediately.

To enhance safety further, Commissioner Ogunlowo has engaged with transport union representatives to reroute commercial traffic toward well-lit and secure areas.

While Ogun State continues to maintain relative peace, the police command urges citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with ongoing security initiatives to mitigate the risk of crime. Commuters are advised to plan their travel during daylight hours or early evenings for added safety.

The Ogun State Police Command, in collaboration with sister security agencies and the Ogun State Government, remains steadfast in its commitment to eradicating insecurity and ensuring the safety of all residents and commuters.
