Ogun State Revvs up E-mobility Revolution with Electric Motorcycle Launch
Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun has inaugurated the Ogun State E-Mobility Programme, introducing a fleet of 2,000 electric motorcycles and tricycles designed to revolutionize transportation in the state.
At the launch event held at the Arcade Ground, Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Governor Abiodun emphasized the program’s alignment with the state’s energy transformation agenda, underscoring his administration’s commitment to creating a sustainable and green future.
The first phase of the program features 2,000 electric motorcycles, capable of traveling up to 75-80 kilometers on a single charge, and tricycles that can cover up to 200 kilometers. This innovation is expected to reduce transportation costs by 40%, alleviating the financial burden on citizens.
Governor Abiodun highlighted the far-reaching environmental benefits of the initiative, stating, “Our goal is to minimize our carbon footprint and transform the way we approach transportation, ensuring a healthier environment for future generations.”
Minister of Transportation, Alhaji Sa’idu Ahmed Alkali, commended Ogun State for leading the charge in Nigeria’s e-mobility revolution, joining the ranks of African countries that have successfully integrated electric vehicles into their transportation sectors.
