Ogun State set for Local Government Elections on November 16

The Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) has announced that the highly anticipated local government elections will take place on Saturday, November 16, 2024. This declaration was made by OGSIEC Chairman, Mr. Babatunde Osibodu, in a statement released earlier this week.

According to Osibodu, the electoral body has meticulously planned the election timeline to ensure a seamless and transparent process. The election guidelines and a stakeholders’ meeting are scheduled for Thursday, August 8, 2024, followed by the commencement of political campaigns on Friday, August 9.

Party primaries will take place between Monday, August 26, and Monday, September 9, 2024. Osibodu emphasized the commission’s commitment to upholding democratic values and providing a fair platform for all political parties involved.

This announcement comes after the tenure of the current local government officials came to an end, paving the way for new leadership across the state’s local governments. The Ogun State government has urged all eligible voters to participate actively in the electoral process, stressing the significance of each vote in shaping the future of local governance.
