Ogun State Set to Revolutionize Meat Production with New Ranching Facilities

Ogun State is taking a major step towards transforming its agricultural sector with plans to establish state-of-the-art ranching facilities to ensure the hygienic rearing, slaughtering, and processing of meat.
This initiative was discussed during a visit by SEMMARIS and the French Embassy’s Regional Agriculture Counsellor to Governor Dapo Abiodun’s office in Abeokuta.
According to Governor Abiodun, the current situation at Kara Market, where about 10,000 cattle are slaughtered daily in unregulated conditions, is unacceptable. “Our plan will modernize meat production while also expanding into piggery and improving poultry farming,” he stated.
The governor emphasized that Ogun State’s strategic location, vast arable land, and strong infrastructure make it an ideal location for agricultural investment.
He assured SEMMARIS of the state’s full support, noting that their presence will enhance food security, create jobs, and support local farmers.
As Governor Abiodun aptly put it, “We are committed to creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, and this partnership is a significant step in that direction.”
