Osimhen’s Clash with Topcu Takes Dark Turn as Alleged Racial Slur Surfaces After Galatasaray–Beşiktaş Derby

Victor Osimhen was involved in a heated clash with Emirhan Topcu during the Galatasaray vs. Beşiktaş match in week 8 of the Turkish Super Lig at RAMS Park, Istanbul, on October 4, 2025.

What initially seemed like an overreaction from the Super Eagles striker has taken a more serious turn as new details emerge about what led to the incident.

According to Sports 247, the altercation occurred in the 39th minute of the tense Istanbul derby. Osimhen, who joined Galatasaray from Napoli in a record-breaking transfer this summer, appeared to be fouled by Topcu while contesting an aerial ball.

When referee Yasin Kol allowed play to continue, an angry Osimhen confronted his opponent and was seen grabbing him by the throat before teammates stepped in to defuse the situation.

Both players were booked for their actions, but clips of the confrontation quickly went viral, sparking mixed reactions among fans—some defending Osimhen’s fiery passion, others criticizing his lack of composure.

However, the story took a new twist after the match as reports suggested that Osimhen’s outburst may have been provoked by a racial slur allegedly directed at him by Topcu.

Though the claim has not been officially confirmed by match officials, sources close to the Galatasaray camp indicated that the Nigerian forward’s reaction was triggered by the alleged insult.
