Osun State Mandates Recitation of Reintroduced National Anthem in Schools

The Osun State Government has instructed all public and private schools within the state to commence the recitation of “Nigeria, We Hail Thee,” following the recent approval of the old national anthem by President Bola Tinubu.

In a statement released on Friday, Murtala Jimoh, the Permanent Secretary of the Osun State Ministry of Education, announced the directive aimed at ensuring that students start their day with the reintroduced anthem during morning assemblies. This move comes after President Tinubu signed the National Anthem Bill into law on Wednesday, reinstating “Nigeria, We Hail Thee” as the official national anthem.

“The Federal Government recently approved a new National Anthem for the country, it is therefore pertinent for schools across Osun State to comply with this directive,” Jimoh stated. He emphasized the importance of adherence to this new regulation, urging all heads of schools to ensure that their pupils and students learn and begin to sing the reintroduced anthem immediately.

Jimoh’s directive specified that the anthem should be recited during the morning assemblies as a matter of duty. “It is expected that it is the new Anthem that should be rendered during their various morning assemblies and this should be done as a matter of duty,” he added.
