People’s Democratic Party Ogun state chapter Holds Farewell Parade & Tribute in Honour of Late Alhaja Mujidat Abeke Ogunnaike
The Ogun State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held a Farewell Parade and Tribute in honour of Late Alhaja Mujidat Abeke Ogunnaike on Monday, 26th May, 2025 at the Peoples Democratic Party’s Secretariat Abeokuta, Ogun State. The event was organized to celebrate her life, legacy, and contributions to the party and the community at large.
The ceremony witnessed the attendance of members from all twenty (20) Local Government Areas in Ogun State. These include: Abeokuta North, Abeokuta South, Ado-Odo/Ota, Ewekoro, Ifo, Ijebu East, Ijebu North, Ijebu North East, Ijebu Ode, Ikenne, Imeko-Afon, Ipokia, Obafemi/Owode, Odeda, Odogbolu, Ogun Waterside, Remo North, Sagamu, Yewa North, and Yewa South.
Several dignitaries and stakeholders in the party gave moving tributes in her honour. Notable among them were: Shakiru Oladimeji (Abeokuta South Party Chairman),Wale Olorode (Chairman, Imeko-Afon),Sunkanmi Oyejide (Youth Leader Representative),Seun Odunowo (Representative of PDP Staffs in Ogun State),Prince Lekan Tejuosho (Past Chairman),Hon. Lukmon Olalekan Adeleye (Minority Leader, Ogun State House of Assembly),Mrs. Dane Lola Odedele (State WomanLeader of PDP),Women Leaders and Chairwomen from across the 20 LGAs
The three senatorial chairmen also paid tribute:Engineer Ayinde Awobadejo,Chief Dotun Keshinro,Elder Olushola Sholedolu
Prominent party leaders also delivered powerful tributes and spoke highly of the deceased’s accomplishments and her role as a strong backbone of the party. These included:Rt. Hon. Adesegun Abdel-Majid Adekoya (Attacker) – Ogun East Senatorial District,Alhaji Semiu Shodipo – Ogun Central Senatorial District,Chief Mrs. Kemi Adeyemi – Ogun West Senatorial District,Hon. Semiu Gboye Adeshina, Zonal Editor of PDP, was also present.
A special highlight of the event was the tribute by Hon. Dr. Oladipupo Olatunde Adebutu, former gubernatorial candidate of Ogun State under the PDP, former House of Representatives member for Remo Federal Constituency, and son-in-law to the deceased. In his tribute, he emphasized that he was more than an in-law, stating that she lived a wonderful life. He described her as courageous and kind, and encouraged everyone to live in love and with a sense of spiritual purpose. He reminded the gathering of his own evangelical calling and the importance of winning souls for the kingdom of God.
Prayers were offered for the children and family in both Christian and Islamic ways. Rev. Shina Adeniyi led the Christian prayers, while Alfa Lukmon Jumah led the Islamic prayers.
The vote of thanks was given by Akinola, the son of the deceased, who spoke on behalf of himself and his siblings. He greeted the guests warmly, referring to them as his “mummies and daddies.” He expressed deep appreciation to everyone who took time out of their busy Monday schedule to be present and honour their beloved mother. He gave special thanks to the leaders of the PDP in Ogun State and expressed heartfelt gratitude to Chief Mrs. Kemisola Adeyemi for her exceptional support and presence.
The event was solemn, respectful, and filled with a sense of unity, reflecting the life of a woman who left a lasting impact on the party and her community.
