Petrol Supply Crisis Enters Third Week, Marketers Optimistic About Resolution

The petrol supply challenges facing the country have entered their third week, but marketers are expressing optimism that the situation will soon be resolved.

This comes as NNPC Limited releases more volumes of petrol to ease the crisis. While the queues at some filling stations in Abuja have significantly reduced, the situation in Lagos remains unresolved.

According to the Public Relations Officer of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Chief Chinedu Ukadike, it will take a few more days for supply to normalize. Independent marketers who had not received any product for weeks are now beginning to load, especially at the coastal depots in Calabar, Port Harcourt, and Warri.

Marketers in System 2A and System B are expected to load the product in the coming days, and Chief Ukadike has urged NNPC Limited to speed up the process to avoid locking out marketers when the portal reopens.

Despite the challenges, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has assured Nigerians that it is working hard to resolve the crisis and ensure a stable supply of petrol. The company has also appealed to motorists to avoid panic buying and stockpiling of petrol, as this can exacerbate the situation.
