Police Warn Ogun Youths to Avoid Cult-Related Gatherings
The Ogun State Police Command has issued a warning against planned cult-related celebrations in the state, stating that any unlawful gathering will be met with firm enforcement action.
The caution was contained in a statement shared on the command’s official X handle on Sunday by its spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola.
According to the statement, intelligence reports indicated that suspected cultists were planning to hold an anniversary celebration, commonly referred to as “777,” in several parts of the state.
“In response, the command has intensified security operations across all Divisions and Area Commands to maintain peace and ensure public safety,” the statement added.
She added that any attempt to stage unlawful meetings, processions, or anniversary affairs tied to cultism would be met with quick and decisive police action.
“Any attempt to organize unlawful gatherings, processions, or anniversary events linked to cultism will be swiftly and decisively dealt with by the police,” CSP Omolola Odutola warned.
She also appealed to parents and guardians to advise their children and wards against getting involved in cult-related activities or associating with suspicious groups.
“Young people are strongly advised to avoid loitering or gathering in clusters in public spaces. Security personnel will not hesitate to disperse any assembly that appears suspicious or poses a threat to public peace,” she added.
The police further cautioned that anyone caught in possession of firearms will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
