President Buhari Assents to Bill Establishing Commission for Almajiri, Out-of-School Children

President Muhammadu Buhari has given his assent to a bill that seeks to establish a commission responsible for providing education and skills acquisition programs for Almajiri and out-of-school children.
The bill, which was sponsored by Balarabe Shehu Kakale and 18 others, is titled “Bill for an Act to Establish National Commission for Almajiri Education and out of School Children to Provide for a Multimodal System of Education to Tackle the Menace of Illiteracy, Develop Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Programmes, Prevent Youth Poverty, Delinquency and Destitution in Nigeria; and for Related Matters (HB.2023)”.
The establishment of the commission is aimed at reducing the rate of poverty, delinquency, and destitution in Nigeria. The commission will be responsible for providing skills acquisition and entrepreneurship programs for children and teenagers through schools. This will help to tackle the menace of illiteracy in Nigeria.
The commission will also provide a multimodal system of education that will cater to the needs of Almajiri and out-of-school children. This will help to prevent exploitation and destitution among these vulnerable children.
The commission will also help to develop skill acquisition and entrepreneurship programs that will enable these children to become self-reliant and contribute to the development of the country.
The establishment of the commission is a welcome development that will help to address the challenges faced by Almajiri and out-of-school children in Nigeria. It is hoped that the commission will be well-funded and equipped to carry out its mandate effectively.
This will help to reduce the rate of poverty, delinquency, and destitution in Nigeria, and improve the quality of life of the country’s most vulnerable children.
