President Tinubu Engage in Governance from Europe, Set to Return on April 21

The Presidency has confirmed that President Bola Tinubu is actively managing state affairs from Europe, even though he has been out of the country for nearly two weeks. The President is expected to return on Monday, April 21, following the Easter holidays.

In a statement released on Thursday, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, reported that the President, who traveled from Paris to London over the weekend, is “fully engaged in Nigeria’s governance” and maintains “constant communication with key government officials.”

Onanuga noted that the President has issued “directives to security chiefs to tackle emerging threats in various regions of the country.”

The statement, titled ‘Statement On President Tinubu’s Return To Nigeria,’ emphasized that the President’s absence is temporary and aligns with the previously communicated timeframe of approximately two weeks.

After Easter, President Tinubu is expected to return to Abuja and resume his duties at the Aso Villa. Onanuga reassured the public of the President’s unwavering commitment to his responsibilities, asserting that the administration continues to operate smoothly under his leadership. He urged citizens to remain calm and assured them that “governance proceeds without interruption.”

The statement highlighted that while in Europe, the President has been overseeing critical national issues and directing security efforts to address growing threats, particularly in Plateau and Benue states.

While the specific reasons for the President’s stay in Paris and London were not disclosed, these visits are consistent with the working trips he has undertaken since taking office nearly two years ago.

The announcement appears to be a response to criticisms from opposition figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, who expressed concerns about Tinubu’s absence amid rising insecurity in the country.
