Prince Ogo Omoge, the grandson of the late renowned musician Mrs. Comfort Omoge, was tragically murdered in Okitipupa, the administrative center of the Okitipupa council area in Ondo State.

Reports indicate that the incident occurred when Omoge was involved in a confrontation with a scavenger along the Ayeka/Igodan-Igbokoda expressway. The disagreement escalated swiftly, resulting in violence. Witnesses claim that during the altercation, the assailant produced a dagger and fatally slashed Omoge’s throat.

A source relayed that what started as a minor disagreement spiraled into a violent encounter, culminating in Omoge’s brutal death. Following the attack, the suspect fled the scene, while Omoge was rushed to the hospital, where he was unfortunately pronounced dead by medical staff.

In response to the incident, Okitipupa council area Chairman Andrew Ogunsakin announced that through a collaborative effort involving local residents and security agencies, a suspect named Machido Abubakar has been apprehended. Ogunsakin praised the swift action of law enforcement, which led to the suspect’s capture within hours of the crime.

He reassured the community of his administration’s commitment to maintaining safety and security for all. The council chairman called on residents to remain calm and compliant with the law while extending his condolences to the family of the deceased and promising them support in seeking justice.

Ogunsakin also convened meetings with local leaders, including representatives from the Hausa/Fulani community, traditional rulers, and youth groups, to emphasize the importance of fostering peace within the community.

Confirming the incident, state police spokesperson Ayanlade Olayinka stated, “Yes, I can confirm the incident. One suspect has been arrested and is currently in custody.”
