Public Holidays Declared for Eid-el-Fitr: Federal Government Announces March 31 and April 1, 2025

The Federal Government has officially announced that Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, 2025, will be public holidays to commemorate the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo made the announcement on Wednesday through a statement from the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani. He congratulated the Muslim community for successfully completing the fasting period during Ramadan.

In his message, the Minister urged Muslims to embody the values of self-discipline, compassion, generosity, and peace. He stressed the importance of love, forgiveness, and unity in fostering a harmonious society.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo also encouraged citizens to celebrate the occasion safely and responsibly, while keeping in mind the less fortunate by engaging in acts of kindness and charity, reflecting the true spirit of Ramadan and Eid.

On behalf of the Federal Government, he extended warm Eid Mubarak wishes to all Muslims, hoping that the blessings of this season bring joy, success, and fulfillment to everyone.
