REMO METHODIST HIGH SCHOOL HOLDS GRAND FUND-RAISING AND AWARD CEREMONY TO MARK SILVER JUBILEE

The 25th Anniversary (Silver Jubilee) celebration of Remo Methodist High School, Sagamu, recorded another remarkable moment on Saturday, 7th February 2026, with the successful hosting of a Fund-Raising and Award Ceremony as part of the week-long anniversary activities held within the school premises.

 

The programme commenced at 12:00 p.m. with an opening prayer led by Very Rev. Ojeniyi. This was followed by a worship session, the formal introduction of awardees, and the recognition of distinguished guests who graced the occasion.

 

Among the special guests present for the fund-raising exercise were Bro. Olanrewaju Ayotade, Sis. Florence Leshi, Barr. Felix Adetoro, Barr. Adeolu Odugbemi, Bro. Ebenezer Wale Ogunfowokan, Bro. Moses Ogunsanwo, Chief Sunday Osolukoya, Dr. Omololu Sokoya, Dr. Igbabolere Babajimi, and Chief Mrs. Abiola Odutayo (MOW).

 

Others in attendance included Dame Princess Iyabo Odulate (KJW), Sir Oyedele Omofioye (KJW), Bro. S. A. Olokun (OOW), Sir Prince M. S. Oremosu (KJW), representatives of Agbowa, Sabo, Ijokun, Oko, Ojumele, Irolu, Ilishan, and Ikenne Circuits, as well as Bro. Sammy Ogunjimi, Sis. Roseline Adesanya, Sir Otunba Opeyemi Agbaje, Bro. E. O. Ogunname, members of the Council of Knights, Lady Oluwagbemiga Osilesi, the Remo Conference of Awardees, and many others.

 

This was followed by the welcome address delivered by the Rt. Rev. J. M. Bamidele Ibikunle, the Diocesan Bishop and Proprietor of the school. In his address, he thanked God for the remarkable growth of Remo Methodist High School over the past 25 years and appreciated the vision and sacrifices of the founding fathers, past principals, and staff. He described the Silver Jubilee as a period of reflection and renewed commitment to excellence. He also commended the Board, management, and staff for their dedication, encouraged continued support for the school’s development, and assured stakeholders of the Diocese’s commitment to taking the school to greater heights.

 

The ceremony also featured the consecration of awards, symbolising dedication and thanksgiving, conducted by the Rt. Rev. J. M. Bamidele Ibikunle.

 

Guests were further entertained with a vibrant Igbo cultural display, adding colour and excitement to the memorable occasion, after which the presentation of awards took place. The award recipients honoured for their outstanding service and contributions to the growth of the school included Sir Chief Dr. Olu Ayodele (KJW), represented by Evangelist Dorcas Idowu-Oladeyide; Sir Chief Dr. Akinola Olu Soname (KJW), represented by the Rt. Rev. J. M. Bamidele Ibikunle; Sir Teju Ogunjimi (KJW); Bro. Ayotunde Mayungbo; Chief Adegbenro Samson, represented by Mrs. Mopelola Osolukoya; Bro. Olukayode Oluwole, represented by Rev. Oluwagbemiga G. Oke; and Bro. Moses Fasanya, represented by Mrs. Mopelola Osolukoya.

 

A beautifully coordinated choreographed performance by the students further thrilled the audience. This was followed by the presentation of a special posthumous award to the pioneer principal, Late Pa David O. Idowu, which was received by Mrs. Idowu Oluwatosin, a teacher of the school, on behalf of his family.

 

The fund-raising session followed, during which generous donations were made towards the infrastructural development and academic advancement of the school. The event also featured an energetic Yoruba cultural display, celebrating the rich heritage of the host community.

 

The celebration further included the symbolic cutting of the Silver Jubilee cake by the school’s leadership and distinguished guests, marking 25 years of academic excellence, growth, and service.

 

The programme concluded with closing remarks by the Rt. Rev. J. M. Bamidele Ibikunle, who commended the school for its achievements and encouraged continued support for its vision. A closing prayer thereafter formally brought the ceremony to an end.

 

The Fund-Raising and Award Ceremony was widely applauded as a resounding success, reinforcing Remo Methodist High School’s enduring legacy of excellence as it celebrates 25 years of impactful education.
