Remo Secondary School Old Students Celebrate Legacy and Future at 30th Anniversary of the 1990-1995 sets.
The Remo Secondary School Old Students Association (RSSOSA) celebrated a significant milestone with the 30th anniversary of the 1990-1995 set. The event took place on Friday, October 17, 2025, at the RSS Assembly Hall, bringing together alumni, teachers, and community leaders to honor the legacy and look to the future.
The celebration was officially commissioned by Eng. Wale Fayemi, the chairman of the occasion. Wale Fayemi a distinguished alumnus, who served as the Immediate Past Managing Director of Total Energies GRP Nigeria and an Executive Director at Total Energies EP Nigeria. The event was anchored by Dr. Abayomi Ojekunle, who expertly managed the program throughout the day.
Notable personalities included His Royal Highness Oba Samuel Lasisi Gisanrin, the Odofin of Sonyindo; Hon. Ola Oresanya, the Ogun State Commissioner of Environment and the “Father of the Day”; Dr. S.O Ogunyanwo, the guest speaker; Eng. Adewale Fayemi, the chairman of the occasion; Mr. Bola Sokunbi, president of the 1990-95 set; Mr. Kofo Ayodele, chairman of the planning committee; and school principals Mr. Wole Ogunsan (Senior School) and Mrs. I.F. Lasisi (Junior School). Other notable attendees included teachers such as Mr. Isaac Folorunsho’s wife, Mrs. Adebisi Folorunsho, Madam Florence Adesanya, Mrs. Oluremi Ketiku, Mrs. Olufunmilayo Kolade, Mr. Ikuforiji, and representatives of the RSS Old Students Association, including General Secretary Mr. Adeolu Oyekan and National Secretary Mr. Adekoya Francis Adedeji.
The program opened with a prayer by Ven. Lekan Onanuga, seeking divine blessings for a successful celebration. This was followed by the national anthem, Ogun State anthem, and the school anthem. The Kabiyesi of Sonyindo warmly welcomed all attendees and guests, praising the 1990-95 set for their contributions and praying for their continued success and for the school that greatly impacted their lives. The Ogun State Commissioner of Environment shared how the school’s values, especially honesty, shaped his journey, emphasizing the importance of social life, helping each other, and giving back to the school.
Principal representatives from both junior and senior secondary schools delivered their remarks, as did Eng. Wale Fayemi, an alumnus and the chairman of the event, whose wife, Mrs. Gbemisola Fayemi, also attended. The president of the 1990-95 set, Mr. Bola Sokunbi, reflected on their journey over the past thirty years, recalling memorable moments like morning assemblies and classroom camaraderie. He expressed gratitude to all members for their support in making the celebration memorable.
Guest speaker Dr. S.O Ogunyanwo discussed “Education in Nation Building: A Collective Effort,” emphasizing education as a vital legacy and shared responsibility. The event also recognized dedicated teachers with awards, including Mr. Isaac Folorunsho, Mrs. Florence Adesanya, Mrs. Oluremi Ketiku, and Mrs. Olufunmilayo Kolade, for their impactful mentorship.
The highlight of the ceremony was the commissioning of a streetlight project donated by the 1990-95 set, inaugurated by Hon. Ola Oresanya. Emmanuel Soyombo briefly spoke about the project’s significance, while the RSSOSA General Secretary, Mr. Adeolu Oyekan, and other officials commended the set’s contributions.
The event concluded with a closing prayer and vote of thanks by Sanni Anuoluwapo, who prayed for the event’s success and safe journeys for all attendees.
