Remo Stars Celebrate NPFL Triumph as Soname Rewards Team with N25m, SUV for Star Player
Two months after lifting their first-ever Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title, Remo Stars held a grand gala on Monday, July 21, to celebrate the historic feat and usher in a new chapter of ambition and reward.
The event, hosted in Ikenne, was a moment of reflection and recognition, not just for their 2024/25 league triumph, but for the club’s overall growth across all levels. At the centre of the celebration was club chairman and founder, Kunle Soname, who announced a N25 million cash reward for the title-winning squad in appreciation of their achievement.
The evening’s highlight came when Olamilekan Adedayo, the club’s top scorer and a key figure in their title run, was handed the keys to a brand-new SUV. The forward, who netted seven crucial goals during the campaign, was voted both Best Player and Fans’ Player of the Season.
“Adedayo didn’t just score goals; he scored the right goals,” said a club official, referencing his title-sealing goal against Niger Tornadoes and his strike in the comeback win over Abia Warriors.
Soname also announced N10 million for Remo Stars Ladies, who reached the Super Six in their debut NWFL season, N5 million for the academy side, Beyond Limits, following their Gothia Cup success in Sweden, and N2 million for the supporters’ club in recognition of their unwavering loyalty.
“This is not just about the men’s team,” Soname stated. “Our women’s and youth teams have also made us proud, and they all deserve to be celebrated.”
Remo Stars clinched the NPFL crown with 71 points, finishing seven ahead of Rivers United. After coming close in previous seasons, the Sky Blue Stars finally completed their rise from title contenders to champions.
With their eyes now set on the CAF Champions League, a competition they’ve fallen short in during past attempts, the Ikenne-based club is hoping to reach the group stage and prove themselves among Africa’s elite.
