Remo Stars Make History as 2024/25 NPFL Champions, Claim First Title in Dramatic Fashion
Remo Stars have been crowned champions of the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, marking a historic moment for the club.
Under the guidance of coach Daniel Ogunmodede, Remo Stars secured their first-ever NPFL title with a narrow 1-0 win over Niger Tornadoes at their home ground, the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, on Sunday. The pivotal goal came from Olamilekan Adedayo, who netted the winner just six minutes before the final whistle.
This victory makes Remo Stars the first privately owned club to win the NPFL championship since Udoji United in 1996. Additionally, they are the first team from the South West region to lift the title in 20 years, following the success of the now-defunct Julius Berger.
With an impressive 68 points from 35 matches, Remo Stars finish the season at the top of the league, leaving second-placed Rivers United trailing with 58 points from the same number of games.
