Remo Stars Secure Crucial Win Over AS FAR in Champions League Opener
Remo Stars Football Club kicked off their CAF Champions League campaign on a high note, defeating Moroccan side AS FAR 2-1 in the first leg of their preliminary round tie on Sunday.
The Nigerian representatives took the lead in the 19th minute through captain Junior Nduka, who expertly headed home a cross from right-back Sodiq Ismail. The visitors pulled level four minutes into the second half, but Remo Stars regained their advantage in the 63rd minute courtesy of Ismail’s powerful header.
Despite creating several scoring opportunities in the latter stages of the match, Remo Stars’ wastefulness in front of goal denied them a more comfortable cushion ahead of the return leg in Morocco next week.
