Remo Women Initiative Strengthens Community Ties with Strategic Collaboration and Support from Key Leaders
On Thursday, December 4th, 2025, the Remo Women Initiative hosted a dynamic joint interactive session with its Matron and Patron at Amber Properties office in Sagamu, Ogun State. The forum aimed to bolster dialogue, enhance collaboration, and refine strategic plans for the organization’s growth and the broader Remo community.
The gathering drew prominent representatives of the Initiative, alongside the Matron Dr Mrs Taiwo Runsewe and Patron, Odemo Elect Otunba wole Ogunbayo who reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to supporting the group’s activities and amplifying its positive impact locally.
Chief Mrs. Sade Sosanwo opened the event with warm greetings to the Kabiyesi and all attendees, followed by an opening prayer from Chief Mrs. Elizabeth Osilesi. The attendees’ introductions featured key members, including the President Princess (Mrs.) Iyabode Odulate, Chief Mrs. Elizabeth Osilesi, Olori Rashidat Asaye, Dr Mrs Womiloju (former Principal General of Remo), Secretary and coordinator Hon Dr. Lizzy Jekami, Yeye Bola Onalaja Mrs Azeezat Gasali and Chief Mrs. Adenike Adebutu, among others.
Hon Dr. Lizzy Jekami formally presented the Initiative’s leadership, introducing the Matrons—Dr. (Mrs.) Taiwo Runsewe and Dr. (Mrs.) Sofowora (Special Adviser and Co-Matron)—and the Patron, His Royal Highness Oba Wole Ogunbayo, Odemo Elect of Isara Remo.
In her address, President Odulate expressed gratitude to the Matron and Patron for their service and highlighted the group’s ongoing community development efforts, including preparations for Remo Day. Hon Dr Lizzy Jekami detailed community support initiatives, such as funding for women’s surgeries, assistance for persons with disabilities, and sponsorships for WAEC candidates, emphasizing their commitment to sustaining these efforts.
Dr. Wumiloju provided updates on Remo Day preparations and outlined remaining funding needs: ₦600,000 for assistive devices for persons with disabilities, ₦150,000 for WAEC support, and ₦2 million for overall event preparations.
Dr. Runsewe praised the Initiative’s impact and pledged her support, donating ₦500,000 toward their projects. Similarly, the Patron, Oba Ogunbayo, commended the group’s dedication and donated ₦2 million for Remo Day, urging unity and focus among members.
The session concluded with words of appreciation from Chief Mrs. Adebutu and a closing prayer by Alhaja Fawosat, leaving attendees inspired to continue strengthening community bonds.
