Reunion of Remo Divisional High School’s 1983 Set: A Weekend of Smiles, Class, Nostalgia

The 1983 set of Remo Divisional High School celebrated their 40th anniversary since their graduation from the school. It was a weekend celebration that placed smiles on the faces of men and women who reunited with childhood friends.

The event started on Friday with a rally from Ijokun Eleja and ended at the Akarigbo palace. The rally took place amidst smiles and large hugs. Security operatives ensured safety and controlled traffic along the road.

At the Akarigbo palace, Oba Babatunde Adewale through his regent king accepted the group to his palace, made prayers and offered blessings to members for remembering to honour their school.

The soft-spoken regent king mentioned in his speech that he sat for entrance examination in 1969, but admission came from RSS first.

 

He also mentioned that Remo Divisional provided an opportunity for students to go to school because of the subtle means of tuition payment back in the years.

 

The President of the 1983 set, Comrade Abolaji Ajetunmobi, thanked the king for his acceptance and sought the blessings of the king for the reunion ceremony.

 

The permission was granted and responding, Chief Biodun Oshikoya thanked the king for his acceptance when the ex-div students requested for his audience. He also advised his colleagues to always be mindful of home, whatever you do, remember where you come from.

 

With permission from the king, members of the Remo Div 1983 set moved to the school for an inaugural lecture given by Dr. Babatunde Oladeko a chartered accountant with over 30 years experience on the topic: Stress Management;A Nigerian Perspective.

 

In the words of the guest Lecturer, “if you can survive in Nigeria, you can survive anywhere”. He said, “Stress is our body’s response to demands of challenges”. He concluded by encouraging the set to “be financially disciplined, spend wisely”.

 

Professor Odinlola, National President of Old Students Association, accepted 50 sets of chairs to be used by the students and two sets of AC for installation and usage in the offices of principals from the 1983 set.

 

To continue with, on Saturday, the 1983 set convened at the chapel of “Remo Div” to celebrate their reunion in grand style, clad in white and green.

 

The Chairman of the event, Professor Okolawon, celebrated the 1983 set for carrying on with such an event that has managed to gather several people after such a long time. He also enjoined them to be more participatory during the school’s annual Founders’ Day.

 

In his speech, President Abolaji Ajetunmobi commended and appreciated the presence of guests while seeking their support for future projects. It was indeed a beautiful moment of celebration.
