Rivers Head of Service Resigns as Sole Administrator Names New SSG
Dr. George Nwaeke has stepped down from his position as the Head of the Rivers State Civil Service. His resignation was confirmed in a statement released by the Chief of Staff to the Sole Administrator, which was made available to the media on Tuesday morning.
Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), the Sole Administrator, expressed gratitude for Nwaeke’s contributions during his brief tenure and extended his best wishes for his future endeavors. The statement read, “The office of His Excellency, the Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral (retd.) Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas CFR, is saddened to announce the resignation of the Head of Service, Rivers State, Dr. George Nwaeke, FCA, Mni. His Excellency appreciates the immense contributions he has made to this administration during his short time in office and wishes him well.”
In related news, Ibas has appointed Professor Ibibia Lucky Worika as the new Secretary to the Rivers State Government. This appointment was also announced via a statement from the Sole Administrator’s office on Tuesday morning.
The statement highlighted, “His Excellency, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas (retd.) CFR, is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Ibibia Lucky Worika as the new SSG. This decision comes after careful consideration of his credentials and extensive experience, following a rigorous selection process.”
Professor Worika brings a wealth of experience from academia, international legal practice, and high-level policy advisory roles, positioning him well to assist the administrator in fulfilling the mandates set forth by the President. His appointment is effective immediately.
The statement further emphasized the administrator’s commitment to leveraging the talents of the Rivers people to foster peace, stability, and security in the region.
