Sagamu Constituency 1 Celebrates Landmark Project Commissioning at legunse Market .
On October 2, 2025, at approximately 1:00 pm, the commissioning ceremony for developmental projects in Sagamu Constituency 1 took place at legunse Market. The event was a significant gathering attended by community leaders, government officials, and residents, marking a milestone in local infrastructure development.
The program was facilitated by Hon. Alh. Omooba Damilare Mohammed Bello, a member of the Ogun State House of Assembly, who also serves as Chairman of the House Committee on Public Accounts and Anti-Corruption. The event commenced with a prayer led by an imam, followed by the singing of the Nigerian national anthem and the Ogun State anthem, fostering a sense of unity and patriotism among attendees.
The primary focus of the gathering was the commissioning of the legunse community project, which was facilitated by Omooba Damilare. The project was officially inaugurated by Rt. Hon. Oludisi Elemide, the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, emphasizing the state’s commitment to grassroots development. The event was anchored by an MC who recognized distinguished guests seated at the high table, including Deputy Speaker Hon. Latefaat Ajayi, Deputy Majority Leader Adeniran Ademola, and other notable lawmakers such as Hon. Lukmon Adeleye, Hon. Dickson Awolaja, Hon. Haruna Wahab, Hon. Samusideen Lawal, Hon. Damilola Soneye, Hon. Adebisi Oyedele, and Hon. Babatunde Tella.
Also present were party leaders like Duada Adeyemi, Oladipupo Kamorudeen (Lado), traditional authorities including Oba Sikiru Adesola Bello of Ilupeju and representatives from the Akarigbo of Remo Land. Community elders, women leaders, and youth representatives, such as Olori Bolanle Ajayi, former legislator Muibilateef Ololade (Abana), Olakunle Sobunkanla, Folawewo Salami, Oluwaseun Adesanya, and Owode Waliu, were also in attendance. The imam, chiefs, and council members were invited to sit at the high table, symbolizing unity and collective effort.
In his address, Omooba Damilare expressed gratitude to God for the successful completion of the project, highlighting the support from his family, especially his father, the king of Ilupeju, who he credited for his roots and inspiration. He recounted personal history, recalling how the king brought him and his brother from boarding school in 1994 to stay in Sagamu, marking the beginning of his journey in local politics. Damilare also thanked Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun for approving the projects, as well as other stakeholders including the speaker, deputy speaker, traditional leaders, women leaders, youth groups, and community development associations. He announced plans to construct 16 markets by January 1, 2026, and to establish a health center in Emure, alongside street lighting projects in legunse Market and other communities such as Falawo, Ode, Ijaba, Olodo, Ayegbami, Araromi, Isaleoko, Igode, Baruwa, Onisuru, Liyungun, Oja Oba, and Sonariwo.
The event also featured speeches from Duada Adeyemi, the PDP Chairman, who expressed gratitude to God and acknowledged the community’s support. The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Oludisi Elemide, commended the collective efforts of community members and government officials, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in development initiatives. The ceremony concluded with a prayer by the Ilupeju imam, praying for safe journeys and well-being for all attendees, reinforcing the spirit of unity and progress in Sagamu Constituency 1.
