Sagamu Youth Association Establishes Jobs Committee to Combat Unemployment
The Sagamu Youth Association has taken a bold step to tackle unemployment and boost youth empowerment in the region by establishing a brand-new Jobs Committee. Chaired by Comrade Olugbenga Isiaka Lawal, also known as Ambassador Easy, the committee aims to create job opportunities and provide social benefits for the local youth.
The official inauguration occurred on March 28, 2025, during a Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting, in accordance with Section 4 of the association’s constitution, which mandates the formation of such committees to promote economic and social progress.
The newly appointed committee includes the following leadership:
– **Chairman:** Olugbenga Isiaka Lawal (Ambassador Easy)
– **Vice Chairman:** Lateef Sodiya
– **Secretary:** Olayinka Odunayo
– **Public Relations Officer:** Comrade Bashiru Hammed Adewale
In addition to the leadership, the committee comprises members Shosanwo Muyideen, Awofodu Oluwaseun, Adekunle Saheed, Odubanjo Musa, Fatai Taofik, Olayinka Sojobi (Senator Obinna), Taiwo Kadri, Ademuyiwa Adegbenga, Segun Dada, Adenuga Babafemi, Quadri Olododo, and Abiodun Oluwanisola.
Breaking from tradition, which typically sees the President and Deputy President at the helm, the committee’s structure emphasizes inclusivity and efficiency. SYA leaders underscored the critical need to address the escalating unemployment and underemployment rates affecting Sagamu’s youth. The committee is set to collaborate with government bodies, private sector participants, and NGOs to generate impactful opportunities, implement skill acquisition programs, and facilitate other social initiatives designed to improve the economic landscape for young people in the region.
Furthermore, the committee is empowered to take on additional duties as directed by the CWC, Stakeholders’ Forum, and the association’s Board of Trustees. With a growing number of Sagamu youths eager for better economic prospects, the committee is poised to serve as a pivotal bridge linking skilled individuals to available job openings.
SYA leaders have urged the newly appointed committee members to demonstrate commitment, integrity, and proactive involvement to achieve their objectives. Community stakeholders remain hopeful that this committee will be a crucial conduit for connecting Sagamu’s youth with the opportunities necessary for sustainable development in the area.
