Speeding Driver Dies in Ogun Road Accident
A truck driver lost his life on Thursday after losing control of his vehicle and skidding off the road due to speeding along the Sagamu-Ijebu Ode Expressway.
According to a traffic update from the spokesperson of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, Babatunde Akinbiyi, the accident occurred around 6 p.m.
Akinbiyi noted that the second occupant of the vehicle sustained a high degree of injuries and was rescued at the Ikenne General Hospital by operatives of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps.
“A fatal road crash occurred at about 1535hrs along the Sagamu-Ijebu Ode Expressway close to Babcock slope.
The accident involved a blue Fiat truck with registration AAA 176 YA. Two adult males were involved. One adult male (driver) lost his life while one adult male (motor boy) was injured.
According to preliminary police investigation, the driver was speeding excessively and lost control, veering wildly into the ditch.”
He concluded that “the injured victim was rescued and taken to the Ikenne General Hospital by the NSCDC patrol team, while the presumed dead body was deposited at the OOUTH morgue.”
