The Super Eagles of Nigeria are poised to take on the reigning world champions, Argentina, in a friendly scheduled for March at the Olympics Sports Centre Stadium in Hangzhou, China. The Argentine Football Association, in collaboration with a Chinese corporation, announced this fixture along with another match against Ivory Coast.
This upcoming encounter in March will reignite the historic rivalry between the Super Eagles and Argentina, marking the tenth meeting between the two teams. Argentina has emerged victorious in six out of the nine encounters, with five of those wins taking place in World Cup clashes (1994, 2002, 2010, 2014, and 2018).
The lone draw occurred during the King Fahd Cup in 1995 (0-0), while the Eagles secured victories in friendlies, including a notable win in Abuja in 2011 and a 2-4 triumph in Krasonar, Russia, in 2017. This friendly promises to be a compelling match as both teams showcase their football prowess.
