Super Falcons to Face Canada in Friendly Ahead of Paris 2024
Nigeria’s Super Falcons are set to measure their readiness in a friendly match against the reigning champions, Canada. The warm-up fixture is scheduled for Wednesday, July 17, in Sevilla, Spain.
This friendly encounter marks the second time the Super Falcons will go up against Canada, who they previously faced in the group stage of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, a match that ended in a goalless draw.
Head coach for Nigeria’s Super Falcons, Waldrum stated, “Playing against top-tier teams like Canada will help us gauge our progress and fine-tune our strategies as we head into the Olympics.”
Nigeria’s Super Falcons, nine-time African champions, have been drawn into a challenging Group A alongside world champions Spain, Japan, and Brazil. Their Olympic campaign kicks off on July 25 at the Stade Bordeaux with a match against Brazil. They will subsequently face Spain on July 28 at the same venue, before concluding their group stage matches against Japan on July 31.
