The remains of Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, the esteemed Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebu Ode, are currently lying in state at his residence in Ogbagba Court, Igbeba, Ijebu-Ode. According to an official statement issued by Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, the Secretary to the Ogun State Government, the burial ceremony is scheduled to take place today at 4:00 p.m.
Oba Adetona, who peacefully passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at the age of 91, was a highly respected traditional ruler whose leadership spanned over six decades. His passing marks the end of an era for Ijebu land and Ogun State, where he played a vital role in cultural preservation, community development, and the promotion of peace.
In the statement, Mr. Talabi also called on residents of Ogun State to keep the royal family and all those affected by this loss in their prayers during this difficult period. The government encouraged the community to honor the legacy of the late monarch by showing solidarity and support for his family as they prepare for the final rites.
