The Collectives 25th Anniversary Scholarship Award and Widows Empowerment

The Collectives Club marked its 25th Anniversary on Saturday, September 20, 2025, in Sagamu, Ogun State, with a landmark celebration themed “For the Good of All.” The event featured scholarship awards to outstanding students and empowerment packages for widows, underscoring the club’s dedication to service and community development in Remo land.

The program opened with a prayer by Mrs. Comfort Folashade Oyemade, followed by the National Anthem, the Ogun State Anthem, and the Collectives Club Anthem. The Vice President, Prince Lanre Solarin, representing the President, delivered the welcome address. He thanked dignitaries, royal fathers, and members present, recalling how the club was founded 25 years ago to tackle challenges in Remo land. He highlighted the club’s consistent investment in education and community growth, noting its role in producing leaders, including traditional rulers.

The Ewusi of Makun Kingdom, Oba Timothy Akinsanya, in his goodwill message, praised the club’s people-centered initiatives and prayed for its continued success. Other dignitaries, including Hon. Biyi Adeleye, High Chief Adeyinka Adefemi Adebayo, and High Chief Emmanuel Ogunnaike, commended the club’s developmental impact while urging beneficiaries to use their opportunities wisely.

The empowerment of widows was coordinated by the Planning Committee Chairman, with certificates presented by the Ewusi of Makun. This was followed by the presentation of scholarships to 10 students selected through a rigorous examination process across Remo schools. The scholarship covers tuition, uniforms, books, and other essentials, with sponsorship promised through university. Representing the awardees, Abijo Idris of Makun High School expressed gratitude to the club.

Mrs. Yetunde Iyabo Obamonire also commended the club and parents for their support, while Engineer Kalejaiye, in the vote of thanks, praised the teamwork that made the program a success and encouraged continued support for education, widows, and the vulnerable. The ceremony ended with a closing prayer by Mr. Tayo Rabiu, a member of the club.

Dignitaries in attendance included Oba Timothy Akinsanya, the Ewusi of Makun Kingdom; High Chief Adeyinka Adefemi Adebayo, Oluwo of Idado, representing the Radanuwa of Idado Kingdom; Prince Lanre Solarin, Vice President of the club, representing the President; Hon. Biyi Adeleye, Special Adviser to the Ogun State Governor; Surveyor Afolabi Solesi, representing the Lemo of Ode Lemo; Hon. Isiaka Salami, Vice Chairman of Sagamu Local Government; and High Chief Emmanuel Ogunnaike, representing the Elepe of Epe.

The 25th Anniversary was not only a commemoration of the club’s history but also a demonstration of its enduring mission of working “for the good of all.” By supporting education and empowering widows, The Collectives reaffirmed its vision and set the stage for even greater impact in the years ahead across Remo land.
