The Collectives Club and OOUTH Launch Free Health Screening Week

2025 edition of the annual Free Health Screening Week, organised by The Collectives in partnership with Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH), Sagamu, officially commenced today, Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at the Collectives Club House, Sagamu, Ogun State. The programme, which has been running for a decade, is designed to provide free and accessible healthcare services to the people of Remo society and neighbouring communities. It also seeks to promote early detection of illnesses, raise health awareness, and reduce the burden of healthcare costs on families.
The opening ceremony was graced by notable dignitaries, including Col. Oyedele Oyefuga; Dr. Tayo Lawal, Senior Adviser to the Ogun State Governor on Health, who represented Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON; Asiwaju Solomon Kayode Onafowokan, OON; Engr. Wole Ogunsanya, President of The Collectives Club; Dr. Bunmi Fatugase, Chief Medical Director of OOUTH Sagamu; Dr. (Mrs.) Mary Ogunsanya; and Hon. Kola Salako, representing the Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, FNSE.
Residents trooped in on the first day to benefit from the wide range of free medical services available, which included blood, Hb, PSA, diabetes and cholesterol tests, eye examinations with free reading glasses, dental care, and general consultations. Free medicines were also provided, while some patients were identified for possible cataract surgeries. The impressive turnout highlighted the importance of the initiative in a society where many struggle to access quality and affordable healthcare.
In her remarks, Dr. Bunmi Fatugase encouraged participants to prioritise their health by paying closer attention to preventive care and scheduling regular check-ups. Similarly, Engr. Wole Ogunsanya, President of The Collectives Club, emphasised that the programme has been sustained for the past 10 years to “give the very best to the Remo society health-wise,” stressing that good health is the foundation for a productive and thriving community.
The day concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Barrister Ajetumobi, Chairman of The Collectives Club. He expressed appreciation to members of the club, OOUTH, Codix Pharmacy, the people of Remo, and all beneficiaries who made the opening day a success.
With the successful flag-off of Day 1, the stage is set for a week-long outreach that will continue to deliver vital healthcare services and reaffirm The Collectives’ commitment to the well-being of the Remo society.
