Three Suspects Nabbed for Purchasing Stolen Transformer Cables in Ogun

The Ogun State So-Safe Corps has arrested three individuals suspected of buying stolen transformer armoured cables valued at N9.8 million in OPIC Estate, Agbara, located in the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area.

In a statement from the State Commander, Soji Ganzallo, delivered via the Director of Information and Public Relations, Assistant Commander Moruf Yusuf, the suspects – Mansirina Usman (27), Janadu Ahyarn (20), and Husseni Abdullahi (20) – were apprehended on Thursday evening around 7 PM.

Ganzallo credited the arrest to the corps’ vigilant surveillance team, who acted on a tip-off about the sale of the stolen cables in the vicinity. “Before the arrest, we received information that unidentified thieves had vandalised and stolen transformer armoured cables worth N9.8 million,” the statement revealed. Following this lead, the Area Commander, Assistant Commander Adeosun Adeniyi, and his team were assigned to apprehend the culprits within 48 hours.

The suspects reportedly admitted to purchasing the stolen cables from individuals named Mustapha and Minister, who remain at large. According to Ganzallo, “Usman acquired 30kg of cable for N300,000, Ahyarn bought 25kg for N250,000, and Abdullahi purchased 20kg for N200,000.”

Upon their arrest, the suspects were found in possession of four off-cut armoured cables, N18,850 in cash, three Android phones, two wristwatches, and two unmarked TVS motorcycles. These items, along with the suspects, have been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force at the Agbara Divisional Headquarters for further investigation and potential prosecution.

Commander Ganzallo praised the surveillance team for their prompt and effective action and reiterated the corps’ dedication to fighting crime within the state. “Our commitment to ensuring the safety and security of our community remains unwavering,” he stated.
