Tinubu Approves Full Allowances and Bonuses for Super Falcons Ahead of WAFCON Final

President Bola Tinubu has approved the full payment of allowances and match bonuses for the Super Falcons ahead of their final clash with Morocco in the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The announcement was made by the Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Shehu Dikko, during a media briefing in Abuja on Thursday.

He confirmed that all entitlements—covering matches up to and including the July 26 final—have been released for immediate disbursement to players, coaches, and team officials.

Dikko described the move as a “policy in action” and a clear reflection of President Tinubu’s renewed commitment to supporting Nigerian athletes.

He assured that going forward, timely payment of allowances and bonuses would become the norm, with no delays or controversies.

Dikko also revealed that the initiative extends to Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, as they prepare for the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket tournament in Côte d’Ivoire. According to him, the team will receive enhanced allowances and bonuses.

“This is the kind of sports administration we’re striving to build—one founded on dignity, trust, and shared prosperity. Future generations will come to value President Tinubu’s reforms in the sports sector,” he stated.
