Tinubu Orders Decisive Action on Benue Killings, Calls for Reconciliation
President Bola Tinubu has condemned the recent wave of violence in Benue State, describing the bloodshed as senseless and unacceptable.
Reacting to the tragic killings in parts of the state, the President said he had been fully briefed on the situation and had directed security agencies to take firm action.
“Enough is enough,” Tinubu declared. “I have instructed security agencies to act decisively, apprehend the perpetrators of these heinous acts—regardless of the side they represent—and ensure they are prosecuted to the full extent of the law.”
The President also urged political and community leaders in Benue to exercise restraint and avoid making inflammatory statements that could worsen tensions or fuel further violence.
Highlighting the importance of leadership at this critical time, Tinubu charged Governor Hyacinth Alia to take the lead in fostering peace and unity.
“This is the time for Governor Alia to act as a statesman and immediately lead the process of dialogue and reconciliation that will bring peace to Benue,” he said.
Tinubu stressed that peaceful coexistence among the people of Benue is possible if leaders across all divides come together in good faith.
“Our people must live in peace, and that can only happen when leaders work together, identify their differences, and address them with fairness, openness, and justice,” he added.
