Tinubu Postpones Kaduna Visit, Moves to Benue on Wednesday Over Rising Insecurity

President Bola Tinubu has postponed his planned visit to Kaduna State and will instead visit Benue State on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, as part of renewed efforts to promote peace and address the ongoing violence affecting communities in the region.

The visit is intended to allow the President to personally assess the situation, which has led to significant loss of lives and widespread destruction.

While in Benue, President Tinubu is expected to engage with key stakeholders—including traditional rulers, political figures, religious leaders, community heads, and youth representatives—in a bid to find lasting solutions to the conflict.

In preparation for the visit, President Tinubu has already dispatched the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the Inspector General of Police, heads of intelligence agencies, the National Security Adviser, and the Chairmen of the Senate and House Defence Committees to Benue State.

The President is expected to hold a town hall meeting with all stakeholders during the visit.

President Tinubu has consistently denounced the ongoing violence in Benue State, urging both leaders and residents to prioritise peace, unity, and mutual understanding. He also offered his sincere condolences to the families of the victims and all those affected by the crisis.

Initially, the President was slated to visit Kaduna State on Wednesday to commission several state government projects. However, according to an updated itinerary released over the weekend, the visit has been rescheduled to Thursday, June 19, 2025.
