Truck Crushes Apprentice to Death in Fatal Accident

A devastating accident occurred on Wednesday in Abeokuta, Ogun State, when a truck carrying granite stones crashed into a young apprentice, resulting in his untimely death. The victim, identified as Jelili Soretire, was on his way to deliver a repaired car door to a customer when the tragic accident happened.
According to eyewitnesses, the truck, registered as AAB917ZY, collided with Jelili’s bike at a failed portion of the road near Kemta Housing Estate, adjacent to the Eco Gas Station in Idi-Aba, Abeokuta.
The accident occurred when Jelili, who worked as an apprentice at the spare parts section of the Mechanic Village, was riding his bike to complete a delivery task. Unfortunately, the truck, which was traveling in the same direction, lost control and rammed into Jelili’s bike, causing fatal injuries. The victim’s body became stuck under the truck, and despite efforts to rescue him, he succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the truck fled the scene immediately after the accident, leaving behind a trail of chaos and destruction. However, operatives from the Kemta Police Station quickly intervened to restore order and calm the situation. The police were able to take control of the scene, and Jelili’s body was later deposited at the morgue of the Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta.
The police are currently investigating the incident, and efforts are being made to contact the driver of the truck and determine the cause of the accident. The police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, was unavailable for comment at the time of filing this report.
