Two arraigned in Ogun for stealing household appliances worth N1.4 million 

Two persons were on Wednesday arraigned before a court over alleged theft of stabilizer, flat screen TV and valuable items valued at N1.4 million.

The duo appeared before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun, over alleged stealing of stabilizer, flat screen TV and valuable items valued at N1.4 million.

The 17-year-old Adeleke Kehinde and 40-year-old Oluwatofunmi Akala whose addresses of residence were not disclosed, are standing two-count trial of conspiracy and stealing.

Insp. E. O. Adaraloye, the Police prosecutor, informed the court that the defendants carried out the offences between April and July 2022 at Adamasum Street, Akeja, Ota.

The Police prosecutor also alleged that Kehinde who’s the stock-keeper collaborated with Akala to dispossess their boss, Bolarinde Esther of her items.

He added that the offences were in violation of the provisions Sections 383 and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun, 2006.

When the matter was read to them, the defendants however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Mrs A. O. Adeyemi, the Magistrate, granted each of the defendants the sum of N200,000 bail plus one surety in like sum.

Adeyemi directed that the surety must live within the jurisdiction of the court and have reliable source of income with evidence of tax payment to the State Government.

the case was however adjourned till November 24, for further hearing.
